Seventy Five Apartments, Galway

Seventy Five Apartments, Galway

This proposed building provides 75 apartments in a complex and sustainable mix of homes sizes and types. There are 15 different types of apartments proposed from: studio, one bedroom, two bedroomed and three bedroomed units. Significant number of the apartments are duplexes and have a private balcony facing East in the morning and West in the evening. All apartments have living spaces facing South, East or West.

A large, fully glazed room between the street and the courtyard can be use for community or extended family gatherings.

External spaces are safe, secure, shared and efficient. There is natural surveillance of parking, pathways, covered walkways between buildings, hard and soft landscape areas.

The richness in the design is about the rhythms and activities of the life of people using the building and taking ownership of the various spaces. The building is seen as a backdrop to the daily activities. It allows people to have their own identity against a backdrop of an ordered pallet of materials, forms and geometry.
